4 Cannabis Industry Jobs that Require Little Experience

Now that the cannabis industry is growing faster than ever, you might be wondering how you – with no experience with cannabis other than maybe consuming it – can jump into this new space. Luckily, just like any industry, there are plenty of entry-level jobs that don’t require much – if any – experience for you to jump start your cannabis career.

So, without further ado, here are four jobs that you can get in the cannabis industry with little to no experience…

Every business needs a good receptionist. Whether it’s a cultivation facility or an edibles processor or a dispensary, someone needs to answer the phones, greet customers and set and track appointments among other things. A receptionist is a necessary part of so many businesses – and you don’t have to know anything about growing, processing or even consuming marijuana for you to start as a receptionist for a cannabis business.

Delivery may be a tricky one depending on where you live. There may be only large-scale delivery – transporting product from a cultivation facility to a processor and from processors to dispensaries. If this is the case then you may need a commercial driver license (CDL), which would be a case of some experience necessary. However, in some states home delivery of individual orders of cannabis are available – and that job would require no experience to get you started.

Tour Guide

If you live in a state where cannabis has recently become legal for adult use, then you can cash-in on the tourism that is bound to come flooding in for a taste of the freedom to purchase, carry and consume cannabis legally. In states like Colorado and California there are guided tours that cover things like the best dispensaries and munchie stops – the only knowledge needed is the ability to Google what sort of businesses are in your area and get creative while deciding on the stops for your tour.

Lastly, a job that requires only knowledge about cannabis plants that most cannabis connoisseurs already have – or can easily obtain with some good researching skills – being a budtender. A budtender is the person behind the counter at the dispensary who can give you recommendations based on your preferences and needs. It really is a dream job for most cannabis users – so get into the biz early on and make a name for yourself!
